talent

Some times I think about how important it is for one to have real talent and then . All around me I see talented people achieving greater heights of success. How easy it is for them to succeed where as its a tough tough fight for me ! What good it is to just survive like a meaningless entity ? You don't matter if you are not in the reckoning. If you learn to be content and in peace with yourself then living without any talent can be easy, otherwise it becomes very difficult. Not having a talent is like God has played a trick on you. He chose not to give you any talent but he did not forget to instill you with the sense to appreciate another person's talents and then brood over not having any yourself. Some prankster he is, right ?

Some might argue that having talent is not enough it is also important to get noticed. I would like to think that even those who have not gotten noticed still must feel satisfied about possessing a talent.

Awhan, I think there is a 'right' place for everyone. Everyone is born with certain attributes or 'talent'. He strives to manifest this talent. He is not satisfied and keeps comparing himself until and unless he gets a position or place that is commensurate to his 'talent'. Once you attain that stage, you stop comparing yourself with others though you may appreciate/depreciate others. But you will not feel this 'inferiority complex' anymore. Because you would be satisfied with your position. This satisfaction is not what you have referred to in your I mean. I mean you want to be something but you are settling down for something lesser but your longing has not reduced. This would cause dissatisfaction in your life. You won't be happy. So you must keep striving until your aspirations match your accomplishments. This is a period of 'struggle' for everyone. There is also a time for this attainment. Different people take different time for the fulfilment of their aspirations. So your time is also coming .... just wait a wee bit more ...

"..you want to be something but you are settling down for something lesser but your longing has not reduced. This would cause dissatisfaction in your life. You won't be happy.."
That precisely is the reason why most people are unhappy, including myself. To hope for the attainment of one's goal after the struggle period is like that fool who cuts the very branch he is perching on the tree. Hope may be a motivating factor for some but false hope can be dangerous. What assurance does one have of the period of struggle getting over. The only practical solution seems to be in the grave acceptance of the dire state of life as is unfolds for us.

Well, I have been living almost 7 years in and around a place where only talented are allowed and adored. Earlier (of course sometimes now too) I would feel meagre in front of all of them. But later I begin to realize that I have deep respects for some people who are not actually talented, in generally perceived sense.. (i think we consider one person talented if he achieved higher, in a short span of time or at an earlier age..) And the people whom I respect are respected by most of the people. Then, I realized (probably perceive) that its not talent that matters but the attitude towards the life which matters.

So, I think that "Talent may or may not give u a first success. But its the attitude which keeps you going and makes you invaluable.. Attitude will harvest a talent sooner or later.."

@prem
life has taught me the same lesson that you preach.... its not the presence or absence of talent but the attitude towards life ... if we just sit down grumbling about the whole apparently unjust affair we will not reach anywhere and make our own lives miserable... and as per swagat's post.. there is a `right' place for everybody ... keeping these points in mind brings peace to me :)
