Ph. D students at IIT campuses have a good reason to celebrate. Recently the Ministry of Human Resource Development has raised the monthly stipend of Ph. D. candidates to Rs. 15000. And why is that such a good news. Its primarily because of the disproportionate comparison of the salaries of guys working in IT sector and the rest of the society. The meager salary was a major deterrent to the aspiring research students of this country. This scaling will bring some satisfaction to this section of the students community and will MOST CERTAINLY motivate some others to take the risk of choosing a career in research.
